Getting ready for spring and Mother's Day Card

I just love getting the house ready for spring and getting the Easter decor out.

I purchased this adorable cornucopia of eggs at a lovely store near me called Wits End.
I love how they look like real eggs.

On this little cornucopia are sprigs of forsythia, etc., dabbled with little beads to add a little sparkle.  I added the clip butterfly for more effect.  Can't you just picture the beautiful tuplips that are going to emerge in about a month!  I can't wait.  I planted so many pretty tulips in different varieties last year, I cannot wait to see them.

So all this effort in spring decor prompted me to create a card for my Mom for Mother's Day.  My Mom raised 7 kids.  I don't know quite how she did it; our house was always spotless!

What I used:
Paper:  Mariposa, Linen Closet (DCVW)
Flower, Pearls:  Recollections
Stamp: Delafield Stamp Co.
Ribbon:  Crate Paper
Ink:  Pumpkin Pie (Stampin Up)
Embossing powder:  Stamp N Stuff (white)
Glimmer Mist

I'll leave you today with a little bit of spring......

In Sympathy

My sister called me the other day to tell me of a gentleman who had once worked with my father and had suddenly died - he had an enlarged heart.  He was only 57 and had a wife, a couple of children (his youngest, who found him, was only 6).  My sister tried to get me to remember who he was and she mentioned "he always asked how you were, how's Rosie", I felt bad not remembering him, until she sent me his picture with obituary.  I remembered instantly; how sad.  I really wanted to send his wife a sympathy card, so this card is for her.

When I hear of someone who is grieving because someone dear to them has suddenly passed, I often think about how precious life is, and I immediately thank God for all my blessings and for keeping me safe day-by-day.  I immediately wanted to post a beautiful poem that I found recently - in hopes that someday when I pass, this will be read.

What I used: Mariposa Stack
Ribbon: Crate Paper
Pearls: Recollections
Glimmer Mist:  Suede
Sentiment: Three Little Words (Stampin Up)
Flourish: Delight In Life (Stampin Up)

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am in a thousand winds that blow,
I am the softly falling snow.
I am the gentle showers of rain,
I am the fields of ripening grain.
I am in the morning hush,
I am in the graceful rush
Of beautiful birds in circling flight,
I am the starshine of the night.
I am in the flowers that bloom,
I am in a quiet room.
I am in the birds that sing,
I am in each lovely thing.
Do not stand at my grave bereft
I am not there. I have not left.

Happy Anniversary

My mother and my step-dad recently celebrated their anniversary and I wanted to make a special card for them.  My mother loves receiving my handmade cards and I really love making them for my family.

What I used:

Paper:  Brenda Walton - Flower and Fauna collection
Trim:  Cosmo Cricket
Bling:  Recollections
Glimmer Mist (for sentiment):  Viva Pink; Delphinium, Black Magic

A birthday card for Meg.

Soon it will be my daughter Megan's 22nd birthday and I wanted to make her a grown-up sophisticated card.  She's such a beautiful young woman now I can hardly believe it.  I used the new line from K & Co./Brenda Walton's Flora and Fauna and the hand-dyed seam binding I bought off Etsy.  I just love that line, so vintagey looking.  Below is a picture of my beautiful daughter and her son Carter (my darling grandson who is now a little over 2 years old).  Happy Birthday Megan.

Cards for a young girl facing serious treatment.

Hi everyone, there was no way I couldn't post this today after reading one of the blog's I subscribe to; "Random Acts of Krafting".  This particularly struck me because not is she just so young to be facing this, but my own aunt passed of ovarian cancer.  Please take the time to read and possibly send young Haeli a card or something.

Hi Ladies,

I know I have tons of cards laying around, and I am going to be sending one to Haeli, in hopes that it makes her smile. I think I will add some stickers and an activity book too.

Haeli, is in 6th grade and is dealing with a very serious disease, something that is even hard for an adult to deal with... cancer.  She has a rare form of ovarian cancer.  She is currently undergoing chemotherapy.

So we are all asking if you would be willing to post a little something on your blog asking for cards for her? I am sure she would be thrilled to receive a lot cards, and perhaps little items like stickers or pencil crayons etc. from all over the world.  Whatever little bit of sunshine you could send her way would be so appreciated.
