A starched flower tutorial from Jones Design Company

I came across this tutorial this morning on a blog I follow - Jones Design Company and thought this would be perfect for scrapbooking or even cards; make a card and gift this beautiful flower as a pin with it.  Very cute and and easy to make.

Covering A Filing Cabinet

I have a similar filing cabinet to this one in my garage right now and I was so inspired by what Laughing At The Days... did that I had to post it here today.  I'll post before and after pics of mine when I am done with it.
Here is the pic of their finished cabinet - nice huh!

A New Baby

I love this image from Magenta, and have not used it in a while.  I never have any "ready made" baby congratulations or shower cards on hand, and what a special occasion to have one on hand.

Just for you.

I have been waiting to use these digital images I purchased off Etsy, from Made By Janet., I love the images she creates.  It is raining today and is supposed to rain all week long.....  So I thought I would get out my stamps and stuff and "play".  I fashioned my card by cutting the gates so they would open (stamped Just For You separately).  Used glitter glue on the lamps so they would look like they were illuminated.  Distress inked the edges using inks from Tim Holtz in Antique Linen and Peeled Paint.  Stamped the top to give it more design and used a little bling from my stash.

My prince charming...

There have been so many posts on the royal wedding, how could I not post on it.  What a day steeped in tradition and old fashioned love.  It did make me think of my own wedding day, I truly felt like a princess.  Finding love the second time around has been truly special, and I believe God sent me my "prince charming".

To walk into the room where we were married and see my husband's beaming smile was overwhelming.

Beautiful memories on a beautiful fall day!

Me and my beautiful three children, (left to right) Cassondra, me, Megan and Adam
My son Adam actually walked me down the isle.

Just For You

I was really in the mood to play with my stamps and paper after the "festivities" of the day today.  I really wanted to make a general card that could be used for almost any occasion (graduation, get well, birthday, etc.), I never seem to have enough of these kinds of cards.  I love the rich colors of this BoBunny paper, the triangle is from DCVW Mariposa.

Hope you all enjoyed your Easter and may God in his infinite love continue to bless you.

Supplies I used:  BoBunny - Gabrielle, DCVW - Mariposa, brass finding, brads (Making Memories)

Relax, and eat a cupcake....

As I mentioned, I am obsessed with the digital images from "Made By Janet"; they're just fun!  My daughter Cassondra made some cupakes last night, so I thought, hmmmm, perfect opportunity to do something with one of the images I bought.  I made the ribbon rose myself (another passion of mine). Here it is!

Easter Re-do/Before & After

Today on one of my trips to Michael's to get cardstock, I came across these two little items on sale on the "Easter" shelf.  I couldn't bypass them.  I felt an "arts and crafts" day coming over me.  So here is my re-do.  I think they look cute.

Vintage Birthday Card for my Sis.

I am sooo in love with the digital images I have found by way of Melissa Phillips' blog "Lilybean Paperie".  I have so many things I want to create with them, you can find her link in "my favorite links" button to the right of my blog.  I had to make a card first of course and this one is for my older sister Cindy.  Thank you for stopping by today.

Supplies used:  140lb watercolor paper (digital image); digital image-Made By Janet; white crinkled seam binding; Pearls/Bling-Recollections; Frame-Melissa Frances; Rub on-Pink Paislee, trim.

Happy Easter card

I just had to take out one of my "old" stamps and play with my prismacolor pencils this morning.  I colored in the image with colored pencils and used mineral spirits to blend.  Used some flowersoft on the bunies for dimension.   Not your "traditional" image for Easter, but I think it worked.  Have a great day all.

Getting ready for spring and Mother's Day Card

I just love getting the house ready for spring and getting the Easter decor out.

I purchased this adorable cornucopia of eggs at a lovely store near me called Wits End.
I love how they look like real eggs.

On this little cornucopia are sprigs of forsythia, etc., dabbled with little beads to add a little sparkle.  I added the clip butterfly for more effect.  Can't you just picture the beautiful tuplips that are going to emerge in about a month!  I can't wait.  I planted so many pretty tulips in different varieties last year, I cannot wait to see them.

So all this effort in spring decor prompted me to create a card for my Mom for Mother's Day.  My Mom raised 7 kids.  I don't know quite how she did it; our house was always spotless!

What I used:
Paper:  Mariposa, Linen Closet (DCVW)
Flower, Pearls:  Recollections
Stamp: Delafield Stamp Co.
Ribbon:  Crate Paper
Ink:  Pumpkin Pie (Stampin Up)
Embossing powder:  Stamp N Stuff (white)
Glimmer Mist

I'll leave you today with a little bit of spring......

In Sympathy

My sister called me the other day to tell me of a gentleman who had once worked with my father and had suddenly died - he had an enlarged heart.  He was only 57 and had a wife, a couple of children (his youngest, who found him, was only 6).  My sister tried to get me to remember who he was and she mentioned "he always asked how you were, how's Rosie", I felt bad not remembering him, until she sent me his picture with obituary.  I remembered instantly; how sad.  I really wanted to send his wife a sympathy card, so this card is for her.

When I hear of someone who is grieving because someone dear to them has suddenly passed, I often think about how precious life is, and I immediately thank God for all my blessings and for keeping me safe day-by-day.  I immediately wanted to post a beautiful poem that I found recently - in hopes that someday when I pass, this will be read.

What I used: Mariposa Stack
Ribbon: Crate Paper
Pearls: Recollections
Glimmer Mist:  Suede
Sentiment: Three Little Words (Stampin Up)
Flourish: Delight In Life (Stampin Up)

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am in a thousand winds that blow,
I am the softly falling snow.
I am the gentle showers of rain,
I am the fields of ripening grain.
I am in the morning hush,
I am in the graceful rush
Of beautiful birds in circling flight,
I am the starshine of the night.
I am in the flowers that bloom,
I am in a quiet room.
I am in the birds that sing,
I am in each lovely thing.
Do not stand at my grave bereft
I am not there. I have not left.

Happy Anniversary

My mother and my step-dad recently celebrated their anniversary and I wanted to make a special card for them.  My mother loves receiving my handmade cards and I really love making them for my family.

What I used:

Paper:  Brenda Walton - Flower and Fauna collection
Trim:  Cosmo Cricket
Bling:  Recollections
Glimmer Mist (for sentiment):  Viva Pink; Delphinium, Black Magic

A birthday card for Meg.

Soon it will be my daughter Megan's 22nd birthday and I wanted to make her a grown-up sophisticated card.  She's such a beautiful young woman now I can hardly believe it.  I used the new line from K & Co./Brenda Walton's Flora and Fauna and the hand-dyed seam binding I bought off Etsy.  I just love that line, so vintagey looking.  Below is a picture of my beautiful daughter and her son Carter (my darling grandson who is now a little over 2 years old).  Happy Birthday Megan.

Cards for a young girl facing serious treatment.

Hi everyone, there was no way I couldn't post this today after reading one of the blog's I subscribe to; "Random Acts of Krafting".  This particularly struck me because not is she just so young to be facing this, but my own aunt passed of ovarian cancer.  Please take the time to read and possibly send young Haeli a card or something.

Hi Ladies,

I know I have tons of cards laying around, and I am going to be sending one to Haeli, in hopes that it makes her smile. I think I will add some stickers and an activity book too.

Haeli, is in 6th grade and is dealing with a very serious disease, something that is even hard for an adult to deal with... cancer.  She has a rare form of ovarian cancer.  She is currently undergoing chemotherapy.

So we are all asking if you would be willing to post a little something on your blog asking for cards for her? I am sure she would be thrilled to receive a lot cards, and perhaps little items like stickers or pencil crayons etc. from all over the world.  Whatever little bit of sunshine you could send her way would be so appreciated.

Happy Birthday Brother In Law...

I always seem to have trouble making masculine cards.  I was determined today to make a masculine looking card for my brother-in-law's birthday.  I always liked tree stamps and especially the Lovely As A Tree set from Stampin Up.  I love the mighty oak image.  I thought, this is perfect.  My brother-in-law is a very physically strong man so this suited him perfectly.  I like how the close-up almost makes the tree sparkle (perfect for him too as he has a very charismatic nature which helps him makes friends easily).  Have a great day everyone.

Springtime...

I received my selection of papers from Bluemoonscrapbooking today.  from Graphic 45's Once Upon A Springtime Collection.  Soooo sooooo  pretty.  I just had to make a little sign to remind me springtime is on its way.  I love fairies and vintagy looking paper.  I may ad a few more things to my sign, but wanted to show what I had done with the paper so far.
